Aiming to pen and carry out timeless, multi-faceted strategies for organizations looking to reach communities of landowners and outdoor audiences who have a role in conservation—whether they know it or not.
the beginning
Wegner Strategies took root right off the back porch of my family’s ranch where many fruitful conversations sprout. The idea that there’s a story to be told in every inch of Texas, from the bay to the piney woods, resonates through every granite rock, cedar tree and wild stream in between. Each one leaving you in awe of the vastness of nature, like a bobwhite echo at sunrise answered by the whisp of a whitetail. With an appreciation for handcrafted stewardship, I’ve had the honor of networking with conservation-focused organizations in Texas, but as technology has shifted our way of communicating and connecting, I realized conversations on back decks are slowly becoming the minority. What we need are virtual handshakes.
“The object is to teach the student to see the land, to understand what he sees, and to enjoy what he understands.”
— ALDO LEOPOLD
the challenge
Whether we’re working to increase the use of conservation easements, the value of hunter education, of understanding ecoregions or to build awareness for the expertise waiting to be called on by landowners and outdoorsman, the bottom line is that we have limited resources for an unlimited amount of work still left to do. The data suggests the evidence you see every day to be true—landowners and the organizations supporting them are aging. We have a grand country to scale and we’re running out of time for the causes that matter in the hands of a generational shift.
