Meet Brittany Wegner

FOUNDER

Native Texan here, opting to skip the headshot. Up top there is my eldest son, James Cash. He’s the beginning of the seventh generation of our ranching family and worth every minute to keep conservation in focus. The hardest lesson I have the honor of teaching him is that working for the important places tries your patience and keeps your face dusty. This is not for those looking for instant gratification, but for the ones with grit and a fierce determination to keep working lands healthy and wild.

I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2013 with a degree in agriculture communications and journalism. I made my way to Houston and spent the next five years working with agencies, nonprofits and large corporations to hone in on their brand message, to activate strategies and build brand awareness with intention. The two most valuable methods I work to master every day are defining the true return on investment and increasing share of voice.

I now work for a natural resources institute by day, creating strategies to make our biologists’ and researchers’ work known through communications, public relations and vital partnerships. My role is to translate their research into products our landowners and organizations can use, and our policymakers can leverage for science-backed decisions. I build campaigns, develop experiments and lead a team of brilliant folks. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can find me on campus teaching the newly designed Communicating in Natural Resources course, giving the tools to do this work to graduate students so that they can then carry out this work in their careers.

Wegner Strategies is my life’s work—combining my heart for connecting today’s landowners with the right resources and my vision for a solid digital strategy.
